Apart from the rainy season in the south, from July to October, Mauritania is a hot and dry country. Temperatures can easily reach 38 degrees Celsius during the day and drop to 7 degrees Celsius at night. Sandstorms whip through the country from March to May. The best time to visit Mauritania is towards the end of autumn (November to December) and winter (December to February).
